We are required to produce attendance information for the last academic year. The information below shows the overall attendance percentage for the academic year 2019/20.
At Witton-le-Wear we place a great emphasis and importance on the need for good attendance by all of our children. Regular letters are sent out to parents regarding attendance issues and procedures. Each year we begin an academic year with review and revision of our school Attendance Policy and we send all of our parents and carers a revised School Attendance Information Leaflet for the forthcoming academic year. The Head teacher monitors whole school and individual year group attendances on an ongoing weekly basis. Half termly class awards are given for best overall attendance and individual awards are given to children for 100% attendance at the end of each half term.
- 2017/2018 – Our overall school attendance rate for the 2017/2018 academic year was 96.3% overall.
- 2018/2019 – Overall attendance rates for the 2018/2019 academic year show that as a school we maintained our good attendance rate of 96.3% overall.
- 2019/2020 – School attendance could not be calculated due to COVID-19 restrictions. Autumn 2019 data showed attendance at 96%
Attendance continues to be a high priority for our children and families in the 2020/2021 academic year but this may be influenced by on-going COVID-19 issues.

‘Every Day Counts’ – Holidays during term time!
Absences
Absence are closely monitored by the school senior management team, with regular attendance information given to parents.
Absences during term time
Parents are actively discouraged to not take holidays during term time if at all possible. We also ask parents to book dental and medical appointments outside of school hours where feasible.
