Welcome to Class 2
There are 29 of us. Our teacher is Mrs Redfern. We have lots of help in our class with Mrs Cooper, Mrs Forsyth, Miss Jackson and Mrs Smith.
In our second half term of Autumn Class Two will be trying to answer the question ‘What is my place like?’ This will focus on being a Geography Detective and investigating our local area. During our English lessons this term we will be writing poetry, fiction stories and playscripts. We are all very excited to read our next class story ‘The Christmasaurus and the Winter Witch!’ Our Mathematics sessions always start with daily mental Mad 4 Maths, in which we will learn a whole range of skills, especially our times tables and number bonds. This term will be finding out how to build simple code and investigation technology outside of school. For Physical Education this term we will be focusing on invasion games, our throwing and catching skills and also some Yoga. As part of our Science topic we will be finding out about everyday materials and investigating their properties. Within RE we will be investigating the question ‘what gifts are given at Christmas?’
Information for parents
Homework in Class Two is given out weekly. It always contains the children’s weekly spelling lists and a choice of other activities linked to the curriculum. Homework is given out each Tuesday and is expected back the following Tuesday. If you have any questions, please come and speak to Mrs Redfern at the end of the school day.
Don’t forget that we are able to access Lexia and Abacus at home too. Get logging onto those laptops, iPads etc. If you are unsure of logins, please speak to Mrs Redfern at the end of school.
Children are encouraged to read at home everyday, please remember to fill in the reading record and return books as soon as they have been read. We also follow a special reading points system using Accelerated Reader. Every time your child reads, they are awarded with a point and the top two readers reaching their targets each term receive a special prize!
As we are a healthy school children are encouraged to eat at least 5 fruit or vegetables a day. We have a piece of fruit at 10.30am during playtime everyday.
All children are expected to have the full outdoor PE kit in school everyday. Our PE kit consists of red shorts, tracksuit bottoms, a white t-shirt, a school jumper and plimsolls. Children will be dressing themselves before and after each PE session so please label all of your child’s clothing.
Many children misplaced items of uniform last year so please could parents make sure that all of your child’s clothing is clearly labelled so that it can be returned easily.
As some of you may know Class Two does not have its own cloakroom, we only have a large storage cupboard. This means that coats and bags are stored inside the classroom. Unfortunately, we do not have lots of room for big bags, so I am requesting that you help us by getting children to use bookbags next year. This means we can store bags in trays like we do in Class One.
We have worked hard through the year and invite your to view Class 2 Work and Activities.
